The Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, was strucked by a lightning bolt during a storm in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Sunday's storm caused havoc in Rio, felling trees in several neighbourhoods - but did not damage the statue.
