Located in Northern Russia, the Kola Superdeep Borehole is the world's deepest man-made hole to earth's ground. It measures 40,226 feet or over 7.6 miles below the earth's surface.

Considered to be the pride of Russian geology, the hole was created by the USSR and was the result of a scientific drilling project to drill as deep as possible to investigate the continental crust. The drilling began on May 24, 1970 on the Kola Peninsula, using an "Uralmash-4E" and later an "Uralmash-15000" drilling rig. After 24 years the drilling was stopped because it was getting too hot inside it.
The site is currently controlled by the State Scientific Enterprise on Superdeep Drilling and Complex Investigations in the Earth's Interior (GNPP Nedra) as the Deep Geolaboratory. As of 2003, the deepest active bore is SG-5, at 8,578 metres (28,143 ft) deep and 214 mm (8+7⁄16 in) in diameter.
Born on September 18, 1961 in Reading, Pennsylvania as Lori and Dori Schappell, Lori and George Schappell, is believed to be the world's oldest female conjoined twins. The sisters are craniopagus conjoined twins which means their heads are joined together since birth. Though they share 30% of their brain matter, the sister have a very different personalities and living, insofar as possible, individual lives and a a mark of individuality, and disliking the fact that their names rhymed, Dori changed her name to Reba. By 2007 she was preferring to be known as George.
While Lori is able-bodied, George has spina bifida which has caused growth retardation of her lower body and severe mobility impairment. The two women are therefore of very different heights. There was no wheel chair that suited George's unique condition, because to move around, she must be raised to her sister's height, to avoid undue strain upon Lori's neck and back. The only thing on wheels that was the right height was a bar stool. Using this as the foundation, George designed the wheelchair that she currently uses. One of the benefits of having a high wheel chair is that, unlike most people in conventional wheelchairs, the user is raised to about the height of a standing adult, which better facilitates normal communication.

Being the first recipient of a bionic arm, Jesse Sullivan is the world's first bionic man. He lost his arm when an accident happen while working as a high-power electrical lineman. The accident caused his two arms. With a bionic arm from the innovative "Bionic" research at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Jesse, is able to do things he couldn't do after the accident.
Developed within the Neural Engineering Center for Artificial Limbs (NECAL) at RIC, Todd Kuiken, MD, PhD, pioneered the muscle reinnervation procedure which takes an amputee's own nerves and connects them to a healthy muscle. In this case, four of Mr. Sullivan's nerves were dissected from the shoulder and transferred to the muscles of his chest. Doing so allows the user to move his or her prosthetic arm as if it were a real limb – by simply thinking about what they want the arm to do. The "Bionic Arm," or myoelectric arm, is driven using electrical signals from the muscles of the chest, now activated by the user's own thought-generated nerve impulses. These impulses are sensed, via surface electrodes, from the pectoral muscle and carried through to the mechanical arm, causing the arm to move.
At 10 years old, Maughan Wellham of Melbourne, Australia is already competing in bodybuilding competitions. But at age of 10, she is still to young for such competitions. In fact, event organizers have to create a division only for her age for her to compete. Despite her enthusiasm of the sports, she sparks concern from health experts and family groups, to which her mom depends her saying she saw nothing wrong with her daughter's daring display at the All Female Natural Muscle & Fitness Classic
"Maughan wanted to do it for fun. So I investigated it. I am very protective of my children," she said.
The mum of five, from Maitland in NSW, said Maughan was a fitness fanatic who runs, does push-ups and squats, but doesn't use weights. "I think it's very irresponsible to put a child on weights," she said.
Ian Boynton, a 42-year-old Iraq war veteran, pulled 13 of his teeth with plier. Those teeth were giving his severe pain so he took matter in his own hands because he couldn't find NHS dentist to seek dental attention for free.
He said: 'I started having pain in a front tooth, which protruded slightly more than the others. I was constantly fiddling with it and wiggling it because it hurt so much.
'In the end I knew it had to come out and had to use the pliers to pull it. Amazingly, it did not hurt as much as you might think.
'I think I'd been prising it that much in the meantime that I'd been killing the nerve.'
